Perhaps you’re a hardware engineer, or maybe a software engineer. Or your investors want to see a prototype…yesterday. You know all too well what goes into a product development cycle, and maybe there’s a shortcut.

Introducing Liquidware Amber. Equipped with Android Gingerbread, Amber is a tablet development framework designed to accelerate time-to-market at all stages of product development. If you’ve ever felt like a customizable iPad, Galaxy Tab, or Kindle Fire would get you to the finish line a lot sooner, Amber is for you.

Liquidware Amber unlike other development kits focused on testing out basic components and functions. Amber is an OMAP-driven, 7” multitouch capacitive tablet that’s perfectly incomplete. It’s fully functional as it is. Wrap a case around it, and it’s a portable tablet. Or add functionality. Attach a barcode scanner, motion detector, and camera, and install it as a retail kiosk.

The most productive engineers don’t start from scratch. Forged from Liquidware’s extensively tested rapid prototyping process, Amber is our secret to delivering complex finished solutions under extremely compressed timeframes.

Media. A 7” multitouch capacitive touchscreen display, coupled with Android Gingerbread 2.3.4, provides an elegant and precise point of interaction for developers and end-users alike.

5 tactile buttons make browsing and volume controls easily accessible, but can be reprogrammed or hidden in the final application. Stereo sound can be piped through Amber’s standard 3.5mm audio jack.

Driven by the high-performance ARM Cortex OMAP3730 processor, 512 MB RAM, and up to 16 GB microSD storage, Amber delivers smooth, seamless functionality for audio/visual and data-processing applications alike.

Peripheral. “Powered by Liquidware Amber” is defined by its highly accessible customization interfaces. 2 USB host ports make peripheral attachment extremely simple, for testing, or for finished use. An additional USB OTG port allows Amber to be accessed as a device, and accessible pins bring out GPIO, I2C, Serial, and ADC hard connections to talk to just about any peripheral component desired.

Debugging. Eight individually addressable LEDs come in handy for hardware component or protocol communications testing.

When paired with the Liquidware Android V-IDE, a comprehensive, full-featured, and fully-functional development environment is right at your fingertips. Turning your creativity into a prototype is as simple as plugging in your peripheral components and pushing your APK to Amber for testing!

If you’re unsure whether Liquidware Amber can accelerate your product development, contact engineering and we’ll help you decide what makes the most sense.

Depending on your application and the level of customization required, Liquidware Amber comes in three flavors: Base, Enhanced, and Pro. For a detailed Amber spec comparison sheet, click on the comparison image.
