Chuck Norris would be proud. Actually, he wouldn’t, because he already built this on his own, and he does benchpresses off of it, and he doesn’t need the Open Source Hardware Bank’s help. For me, on the other hand (and Chris and Dave), I’ve built an Equalizer on a Shield.

The EqualizerShield has two modes: Justice… and Equality. In the Justice mode, the shield acts as a 10×10 blue LED matrix, addressable over serial from pins 0 and 1 on the Arduino. In the Equality mode, the shield acts as an analog pin visualizer. On the backside of the board, there is an 8-wide female header port where you can wire in any analog signal, and the board will display the status on the LEDs on the front, like an equalizer.

Normally, this shield would cost someone about $130-155 apiece to make even just 1 of them. It doesn’t even start to get reasonable (for me personally) until about 15 are made. So the Open Source Hardware Bank is going to fund building twice however many are made.

-Buy 1, Build 1 – pre-order 1 EqualizerShield, plus fund the production (at cost) of one more that gets resold. When it sells, I’ll send you the money for that EqualizerShield, which includes cost +15% margin. So it’s like getting one EqualizerShield at cost.

-Buy 1, Build 2 – pre-order 1 EqualizerShield, plus fund the production (at cost) of two more that get resold. When the two sell, I’ll send you the money for those EqualizerShield, which includes cost +15% margin. It’s like getting one EqualizerShield at cost, and then an additional 15%, which should cover the cost shipping to most places in the US.

-Buy 1, Build 3 – This is the same as Buy 1-Build 2, except with 3 builds. This was made a popular request for guys over seas who wanted to be able to offset shipping a little more.
