Overview
FlexApp Smart Update compares the applications in your Liquidware FlexApp inventory against Chocolatey, Winget and Microsoft Configuration Manager, and submits package-creation jobs to FlexApp Packaging Automation (FPA) to build the updated FlexApp packages.
It builds packages; it never assigns them. The flow ends at a report and a set of verdicts — a person decides what to deploy. It will tell you which ProfileUnity assignments have a newer build available, but the assignment itself stays in the console.
- No FPA install required. By default it talks to the FPA primary's REST API directly, so it runs from any machine that can reach the primary. The legacy primary-client.exe engine remains as a fallback.
- Run books — typed, multi-step build definitions for applications a one-line install cannot express, now able to embed their own activation scripts so an exported book is self-contained.
- Launch tests — attach a captured FlexApp on a real workstation and confirm it actually starts, via a pull-based queue on a share.
- Intune — wrap and upload Win32 LOB apps.
- No telemetry, no analytics, no CDN assets. Every outbound call goes to a server you configure. A CycloneDX 1.6 SBOM and the third-party license texts ship in every release.

How it works

Download and extract the SmartUpdate .zip.

Point SmartUpdate at your FPA primary server.

Compare your FlexApp inventory against Chocolatey, Winget, and Configuration Manager.

Review the report and submit package-creation jobs to FPA for the updates you want.

Use the report to see which ProfileUnity assignments have newer builds, then update assignments in the console.
